When I heard about Abita’s Pecan Harvest Ale, I was intrigued (even if I didn’t care for their Purple Haze). I’ve heard this was a pretty solid beer and it sounded like a yummy, malty beer that I’d enjoy. The first sip wasn’t bad, filled with maltiness and I could taste a bit of pecan flavor, but the aftertaste didn’t sit well. You know how if you eat a handful of pecans, you have that bitter aftertaste? That’s exactly how this beer tasted; total pecan, nasty aftertaste and all. Maybe this beer just isn’t for me, and while I dare say, you should still try it – it wouldn’t be one I’d highly recommend.
Oh Abita! I have yet to like one of your beers, but I’m not giving up – I see you have a Fall Fest and a Christmas Ale – so I will give them a shot. Stay tuned!

I hope you like at least one. Otherwise, may be time to throw in the Abita towel.

Have you tried their Andygator? It’s truly incredibly. If you’re still looking for a reason to trust in Abita, I would highly recommend it. You can also see my review of it here: http://beerandamovie.wordpress.com/2011/07/20/abita-andygator-mega-python-vs-gatoroid/
Enjoy!

Cool Blog you have there! Okay, I’ll have to give this Andygator a try now. If I like it, you may have rescued Abita from my “no drink” list. 😉

Thanks! I hope you enjoy. You’re blog is pretty cool. It’s fun reading what other people have to say about beer and I’m already getting ideas for future pairings.
And I hope Andygator redeems Abita. I’m putting my reputation on the line!
