Palo Santo 2008

Dogfish Head is one of my favorite breweries ever! Tonight my sampler included a 2008 Palo Santo Marron. If you haven’t had this beer, it’s fabulous! It’s brewed and aged in a Palo Santo Wood barrel. I love the fresh version, but the 2008 aged version is like drinking maple syrup! I can handle a small sampler but I can’t imagine drinking a whole glass!
If you haven’t been to Dogfish, or tried their beers, you should – awesome stuff!!

Lovin’ Some Punkin

Ah Fall – that wonderful time of year again that brings cooler weather, changing leaves, the smell of roasted marshmallows around outdoor campfires – and Dogfish Head’s Punkin Ale!  I LOVE THIS BEER!  It’s no secret that I’m a huge Dogfish fan, and this Punkin is one of my favorite seasonal brews.  Tonight, I picked up a four pack and lavished myself with this spicy treat!  Rich with spices like pumpkin (yes, you probably guessed that), cinnamon, clove and nutmeg – the first sip will have you reveling in the joy of the Fall season!  My only complaint about this beer is that it doesn’t come in a sixer!  😦

Cheers and Happy Fall!!

Wrath of Picant – Holy Bacon!

When I first tried this brew, all I could taste was malt and bacon!  Now, this beer isn’t brewed with bacon, but the smokiness along with the overly sweet brown sugar flavor certainly makes me think of it.  I do love some bacon, but I’d perfer to eat it, not drink it. Some other people that shared this beer enjoyed it, but the consensus was it was a little weird and overly smoky.  With this being said – The Wrath of Pecant is the probably one of the only beers brewed by Dogfish Head that I don’t care for; I actually adore most of them – Palo Santo, Red & White and their Brown Ale – just to name a few.

I applaud Dogfish for always trying something new and pushing the boundaries of craft brewing, but maybe they could go for a new chocolate beer next time.

Dogfish Head’s Best T-shirt Evah!

My husband was out of town this past week, working but also living it up like a bachelor!  I’ve wanted this “Fort” t-shirt from Dogfish Head for a couple of years now, so when he was at the brewery, he picked it up – so sweet!  Atleast when he drinks without me, he still thinks about me!  😉

It’s no secret that Dogfish Head is one of my favorite breweries; I love so many of their beers!  From the Red & White to the Palo Santo – they are all really delicious!  This Fort though, is really special.  Just imagine this – lots of raspberries purred and added into a belgian type beer… yes, it sounds delicious – and it is!!   AND… I love my awesome new shirt!

Dogfish Indian Brown

Oh, how I love the Dogfish Brewing Company.  Yes, I know this isn’t a cap, but honestly beer on tap really is better, isn’t it?
This brown ale is one of my favorites… rich with chocolate malt and well balanced hops.  I really enjoy a beer that has good body and doesn’t feel as thin as water… and dogfish beers never feel like water.

Maybe I am bias when it comes to Dogfish… because I love all of their beers.  From their Indian Brown to their Olde Skool, it is all good!

Dogfish – Again, but Different!

Yes, I know, I’ve posted a Dogfish Head Brewery Cap before – but, this is from a different beer!  We have many caps, but some of them are from the same breweries… what can we say – when a brewery has one good beer, they normally have several that follow!

The last time I posted a Dogfish Head cap, I talked about the Palo Santo Marron <swoon>, but with this cap I will talk about another favorite of mine – the Raison D’Etre.  The Raison D’Etre is a rich Brown Ale that is actually brewed with raisins and beet sugar.  You can totally taste the raisin flavors, which meld well inside a brown ale.  This particular brown is also brewed with a Belgian style yeast (can you say “yum”?) which gives it a unique flavor and bubbly head.

Dogfish is one of my favorite breweries, brewing so many different styles of beer that are all complex and tasty.  Don’t be surprised if you see another cap from them in my blog soon!  Cheers!
